Location:
Located outside of downtown Ubud (~10 minute drive to Ubud) along the Ayung River. It is ~1 hour from Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The Hotel:
Never have I been this impressed by a hotel lobby! Your check-in process begins on a massive deck overlooking a lush river valley outside of Ubud. Getting to rooms and around the resort requires some decent walks along steep hills, which we enjoyed, but carts are just a quick phone call/text message away if you need a ride. The service is very high touch and some of the best I've experienced - rooms come with a personalized butler service and they were there for every need and helped arrange all of our transportation and reservations. The hotel also offers many different activities and tours around the island as well.
Spa: My number one recommendation when staying at the Mandapa? Book a spa appointment!!! We booked a couples massage, which was in a private villa on the river. Treatment rooms in the villa were separate, but the villa also had a private deck and hot tub that we were able to enjoy before and after our treatments. This was hands down the best massage and spa experience I have ever had. Literally still dreaming about it to this day...
Hotel Grounds: Rice paddies and a temple are located on site. The hotel pool was so idyllic and my favorite place to relax at the resort. One of the pools is also heated which is great since Ubud was pretty chilly one of the days we were there.
Food: I absolutely loved the outdoor deck at Sawah Terrace Restaurant, where breakfast was served daily - so quiet and peaceful and overlooking the valley. Local breakfast options were so delicious - I loved the Nasi Goreng here. For a memorable experience, Kubu is an amazing place for a romantic dinner. I highly recommend you book one of the private bamboo huts along the river ahead of time. We opted for the six-course menu, which was amazing start to finish.

The Room:
We booked a Reserve Suite and not a villa at this hotel, which was still very large, but honestly we kind of wish we went with a villa because the property was so special! The bathroom in the Reserve Suite was massive, and there was a great balcony as well. The room was fairly close to the main road that carts drive on, and while there were some trees to help with privacy, there was a bit of noise from the carts. If you are looking for quiet and a little more privacy, I would recommend one of the villas. Our room came with a butler service, and the overall level of service was incredible and really made our stay extra special.
